AUD touches 91.58 cents

Its lowest level since September 2010.

Amazing falls given that on April 10 the Aussie dollar was buying 105.4 US cents.

It's been a long, long time coming for those of us short the Aussie dollar, but at last it has eased back somewhere close to a fair value.

Will it drop yet further? Plenty forecasting further falls....

AUD with a 93 handle

Well, there it is...the Aussie dollar trades back below 94 cents in response to China's lower reported exports.

Sounds nice starting with a '93 cent' handle.

90 cents here we come...

AUD 95 cents

Will be interesting to see what happens to the dollar this week.

Futures markets are already pricing in a 55% chance of another rate cut in July.

So, if the Labour Force data is weak on Thursday...

Stocks belted; AUD hits 20 month low

Dow off 217 points overnight or 1.4%.

The Aussie dollar plunged as low as 95.1 cents before recovering a little.

Strong US payroll data on Friday could send us down to new lows and towards 90 cents which in turn would be welcome news for Australia's economy.

AUD hits 89.36 cents

And, there it is...

The resilient Aussie dollar finally cracks and drops below 90 cents hitting 89.36 cents down from 106.24 cents in just a few short months, before bouncing a little.

That's great news for the economy and the lowest level we have seen since September 2010, nearly three years ago.

Perhaps the market is anticipating more than one interest rate cut yet...

It's been a long, long time coming, but this is welcome and excellent news for Australia's exporting economy.
